Explosive charge in Ein al-Helweh camp

A large explosive charge was defused on Friday in Ein al-Helweh camp for the Palestinian refugees, near Sidon, in south Lebanon.
The 4-kg explosive was found in a residential area that has no premises for the PLO.
Explosives experts from three Palestinian organizations dismantled the explosive, and a massacre among the civilians were prevented.
On Thursday and for the second running day Ein al-Helweh camp had been a theater for strong tensions between Fatah, the leading group in the PLO, led by Yasser Arafat, and the supporters of Osbet al-Ansar, led by Abu Muhjin who is wanted by the Lebanese judiciary.
Armed Palestinians were deployed in the streets of the camp, which is home to 60,000 persons but these armed people withdrew when hundreds of civilians wejnt into the streets to prevent the occurrence of a confrontation.
