In the presence of Syrian President Hafez al-Assad the governors of the Syrian provinces of Damascus, Damascus Countryside and Daraa took their legal oath on Thursday on the occasion of assuming their new posts as governors, according to the Presidential decree no. 62 for 1999. Al-Assad met with the three new governors, Muhammad Safi Abu Wdan of Daraa, Subhi Hameeda of Damascus Countryside and the governor of Damascus Nabeel Nasri, and provided "them with his directives."
