Arab officials call for inter-Arab agricultural integration

Arab officials called on wednesday for the need of realizing Inter-Arab agricultural integration by holding joint ventures to guarantee food security.
Syrian agricultural minister Asaad Mustafa, speaking in a seminar held to mark the Arab agricultural day, said the Arab world was importing $ 20 billion worth of food every year, while Inter-Arab agricultural trade was less than one billion dollars.
He urged Arab states for further cooperation to realize food security.
Mustafa asserted that the Arab free trade zone would bring about economic integration.
The seminar, organized by the Arab organization for agricultural development, tackled food shortage in the Arab world and called on Arab investors to help reach food security.
