Qatari foreign minister confers with Israeli counterpart
Qatar-Israel, Politics, 10/1/1999

Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad Bin Jasem Bin Jaber al-Thani discussed with his Israeli counterpart, David Levy, "Middle East peace process developments," during their meeting in New York on Wednesday night on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session.

The Qatari minister also met with heads of American Jewish organizations and the two sides exchanged viewpoints concerning the Middle East peace process developments.

Qatar had frozen its relations with Israel in protest against policies pursued by former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Qatar expressed satisfaction over the election of Barak and called on him to take practical steps to achieve a just and comprehensive peace in the region.
