UNRWA meets in Amman over budget
Regional-Palestine-UN, Politics, 10/1/1999

The consultation committee for UNRWA held its annual conference in Amman on Thursday with the participation of members of the committee, who represent Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, Belgium, France, Britain, Japan, Turkey, the USA and the PLO as an observer.

UNRWA's commissioner general, Peter Hansen, reviewed the annual report which he will submit to the UN General Assembly later this year. The report covers the activities and services offered by UNRWA to the Palestinian refugees in the health, social and educational areas in the five areas of UNRWA operations of Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, the West Bank and Gaza Strip during the period from July 7, 1998 to June 30, 1999.

Heads of the participating delegations expressed their observations about UNRWA' s financial conditions and its budget for the two coming years, estimated at US $750 million.
