Iran refutes Israeli claims; Malaysia refuses resuming relations with Israeli
Iran-Israel-Malaysia, Politics, 10/1/1999
Iran has denied claims made by the Israeli daily Haaretz that Tehran had submitted a proposal via Britain to Israel concerning the weapons of mass destruction weapons, stressing that its stances toward Israel are fixed and unchanging.
The spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Hameed Rida Asifi, said in a statement he made in Tehran on Thursday that any talks between Iran and Britain or any other country have no connection to "the Zionist entity."
He added that disseminations of such lies by Israel are futile attempts to undermine the constructive talks Iran is making with the world's countries in order to eliminate weapons of mass destruction.
Meanwhile, in Kuala Lumpur , Malaysia has reiterated that it will not resume its relations with Israel before several Palestinian issues are settled, including the situation in the city of Jerusalem.
On Thursday the Malaysian "New Streets Times" daily said that Malaysian
Foreign Minister Syed Hamid bin Syed Jaafar Albar stressed this position during his meeting with Israeli Foreign Minister David Levy in New York on Wednesday night on the sidelines of meetings of the UN General Assembly.
Following his meeting with Levy, al-Bar said his country finds that it is not possible at the present time to establish official relations with Israel.
The Malaysian minister said he urged Levy to implement the peace agreement with the Palestinians and told him that Malaysia will not resume its relations with Israel until these matters are settled.
