The Israeli group B'Tselem yesterday accused the Jewish settlers, the government and the Israeli Supreme Court of giving an appearance of justice to operations of expropriating the Palestinians' lands through confiscating their lands and joining them to the state's properties. B'Tselem added that the settlement Maalia Adomim came into existence as a result of land theft from the Palestinians. 26,000 Jewish settlers live in Maalia settlement, which is the largest in the West Bank. Arab military sources in Cairo today said they expect the signing of a major military transaction between Turkey and Israel soon that will be worth $50 million to develop the Turkish armed forces after the devastating earthquake that recently hit Turkey. Go

The US said yesterday that it will contribute an additional $3.5 million to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA). According to a statement made by US State Department deputy spokesman James Foley, "One million is for the General Fund and $2.5 million is for special projects. This brings the total FY 1999 U.S. contribution to $80.53 million." Go

King Mohammed VI will take part in the Millennium summit slated to be held in year 2000, in response to an invitation extended by the U.N Secretary General Kofi Annan. Go

UN Secretary General Kofi Annan recommended the continuation of the United Nations Iraq-Kuwait Observer Mission (UNIKOM) on the border between Iraq and Kuwait. UNIKOM's budget will be a topic on the schedule of the UN fifth committee on October 4. Go
