One SLA militia member killed; Israel trains SLA on prisoner torture

The Lebanese resistance on Wednesday carried out a series of operations against the Israeli occupation positions and their militia allies in al-Sweid, Sujoud and al-Tibeh positions resulting, according to an Israeli military spokesman, in the death one Israeli-allied South Lebanon Army militia member and the wounding of another two.

Simultaneously, Israeli warplanes raided the area located between Houmin al-Fouka and Arab Salim, while the Israeli artillery bombarded the outskirts of Habboush, al-Zahrani river course and al-Tuffah district heights, resulting in inflicting great damage to the water and electricity networks.

Lebanese security sources said the Israeli artillery bombardment resulted in setting fires in farms, plantations and olive orchards in al-Tuffah district and al-Nabatiyah area and a break in the electricity grid the southern area of Arab Salim town.

The Lebanese sources added that the fires, which covered area close to the residential areas in Arab Salim, lasted for more than four hours until the Lebanese civil defense forces could control the fire.

The director of the water department in Ein al-Tasse said that the Israeli attacks in al-Tuffah district resulted in heavy damages to the water pipeline that led to cutting off water to houses in al-Nabatiyah, the al-Tuffah district, and the eastern parts of Sidon.

In retaliation for the Israeli attacks, the Lebanese resistance attacked an Israeli armored force composed of two Merkava tanks and a military car.

Lebanese resistance sources that one of its groups attacked the Israeli force upon entering the al-Tibeh project position. The resistance sources stressed that direct hits were achieved and its members were killed or wounded.

The Lebanese resistance clashed with the occupants of the position of the Israeli occupation forces and the SLA in the occupied part of south Lebanon, using appropriate weapons. Direct hits were achieved.

Meanwhile, the Lebanese resistance attacked the occupation and SLA militia positions in Sujoud inside the occupied part of south Lebanon. The attack lasted for 15 minutes and resulted in starting a fire inside the position and destroying its western fortifications.

Meanwhile, the April Understanding monitoring committee started on Wednesday its meeting at the headquarters of UNIFIL in the Lebanese border town of al-Naqoura.

The committee will discuss five Lebanese complaints dealing with Israel's violation of the understanding's provisions through bombarding the residential areas, attacking civilians and using internationally banned "nail" shells.

On Wednesday Israel admitted that its intelligence was involved in training SLA militia investigators at Khiam prison in the occupied part of south Lebanon where brutal treatment of prisoners takes place.

AP said that the Israeli army admitted in a 15-page written testimony, signed by the commander of the Israeli military operations, Gen. Dan Haloutz, and submitted to the Supreme Court in Israel that Shin Bet agents visited Khiam prison and trained SLA militia members there as well as holding periodical training for them in Israel on torture methods.
