The Iraqi transport and communications secretary, Jamil Ibrahim, said that technical cadres at the Iraqi Transport Ministry are able to operate telephone cells with each of Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Oman, Qatar, Sudan, Syria, the UAE and Yemen.

Ibrahim added that some 10 telephone channels were operated with these states, including 20 channels with Syria, 18 with the UAE, 13 with Egypt, 10 with Qatar, 8 with Yemen, 5 with Jordan, 4 with Morocco, 4 with Sudan, 3 with Algeria, and 2 with Oman.

The general assembly of the Arab establishment for telecommunications, Arabasat, decided last May to return its services to Iraq following more than eight years of suspended services.
