Mubarak calls Israel to end occupation of Arab lands
Egypt, Politics, 9/29/1999
Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak on Tuesday called on Israel to end its problems with Syria, Lebanon and the PNA to return to its internationally-recognized borders.
Speaking to Al-Akhbar newspaper published in Cairo on Tuesday, Mubarak said, "Freezing the peace process is not in Israel's interest."
Mubarak, who won 93 percent of votes in the presidential referendum held on Sunday, pointed out that Israel should "stop threats to use force against any of the conflicting parties," adding that "normalizing relations can be achieved by cooperation and peace."
President Mubarak voiced hope all Arab states will agree on establishing the common Arab market.
He also called on states to fight terrorism, achieve peace and solve their disputes peacefully, and not by using force.
