Arab formative art exhibition opens in Beirut

An exhibition of modern Arab formative art opened on Monday in Beirut, the cultural capital for the Arab states for the year 1999, and with the participation of a number of Arab formative artists.

A number of artists from Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Qatar, Oman, Tunisia, Jordan, Sudan, Libya, Lebanon and Iraq are taking part in the exhibition, reported the Kuwaiti news agency KUNA.

Lebanese Minister of Culture and Higher Education Mohammad Beydon said at the opening ceremony that the artistic exhibition would foster and deepen the roots of scientific, artistic and cultural ties among Arab countries.

Beirut was declared by UNESCO as the cultural capital for the Arab world for the year 1999.
