Negotiations on the Syrian-Israeli track to resume next month, Albright says
Syria-Israel-USA, Politics, 9/29/1999
US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright said that the US Administration thinks that negotiations on the Syrian - Israeli track will resume next month.
In a statement she made on Tuesday in Washington in a meeting with Israeli Foreign Minister David Levy Albright added that US President Bill Clinton might visit the region, but she did not set a date for such a visit.
During a meeting with heads of Jewish organizations in the US, Albright added that President Clinton is still "optimistic" towards the stumbled peace talks on the Syrian and Lebanese tracks. She went on, "It is possible to have the Middle East peace talks resumed on the peace track despite the existence of obstacles."
AP quoted Albright as saying "The issue here is whether we can find the way to restart negotiations that will match the will that all sides profess to feel."
