Lebanese resistance vows to continue resistance against Israel
Lebanon, Politics, 9/27/1999
The assistant secretary general of the Lebanese Hizbullah Party, Sheikh Na'eem Qasem, has said that the resistance will continue unabated because it wants a direct and complete pullout by occupation forces from all the Lebanese territories.
In a speech he delivered in Beirut on Sunday marking the 40th day since the death of Ali Deeb, a resistance leader who was killed by an Israeli explosive charge, the resistance official said, "There are long stages of struggle against Israel, and we are working to liberate our lands."
Sheikh Qasem called for not worrying, through asking about the future of the Lebanese resistance, adding, "The Israelis themselves do not know about their future."
On Israel's statements about withdrawal from south Lebanon, Sheikh Qasem said the Israeli withdrawal from south Lebanon is possible due to two reasons: The first is that Israel has failed to invest its occupation, and the second is because of the fact that much talk about withdrawal constitutes political pressure on Israel through which it tries to legitimize its strikes against the Lebanese resistance.
Sheikh Qasem categorically opposed the Israeli refugee settlement policy, saying that such a policy carries elements of explosion in the region, in reference to the intention to settle the Palestinian refugees in Lebanon, and other areas where Palestinians in Diaspora are present.
"If the settlement is achieved, four million will remain scattered in different parts of the world," he concluded.
