Saudi minister denies Syrian - Egyptian disputes
Saudi Arabia-Regional, Politics, 9/27/1999

Saudi Defense Minister Prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz has totally denied the existence of any Syrian - Egyptian disputes. He stressed that all that has been rumored in this respect was by "foes of the Arab nation."

In a statement he made on Saturday night in Riyadh following his meeting with his Tunisian counterpart, al-Habib Bin Yahya, and replying to a question on a Saudi mediation made by Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz between Damascus and Cairo and news of a Syrian-Egyptian summit, the Saudi defense minister said, "Syria and Egypt are two sisterly countries who cooperate for everything that serves the interest of the Arab nation."

In this respect, the Saudi minister stressed that Saudi Arabia, under the leadership of King Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz and Crown Prince Abdullah,, always seeks to "unify Arab ranks."
