Mashaal: Resistance a legitimate right in the occupied lands
Jordan, Politics, 9/25/1999

Khaled Mashaal, head of the political office of the Hamas resistance movement, expressed his hope that King Abdullah of Jordan will reconsider his opinion in order to end the crisis between Hamas and the Jordanian government.

In a press conference, Mashaal asserted the existence of Israeli and US pressures on Jordan as a part of the final status negotiations, expressing his hope of ending the crisis.

He said he considered resistance a legitimate right for every Arab person as long as the occupation exists, adding that if people are given their rights, the resistance will immediately stop.

He emphasized that Hamas has a wide network of public and official relations with many Arab and Islamic states and that Iran is at the top of these countries.
