EU grants Tunisia one hundred million dollars for reform programs

Tunisia and the European Union (EU) on Friday signed a financial agreement according to which Tunisia receives a grant of 80 million Euros (100 million dollars).
The agreement was signed by the Tunisian Minister of international cooperation and foreign investment, Mohammad Al-Ghanoushi, and the head of the European committee envoy in Tunisia, Robert Holleston.
The European grant, which will be distributed in two equal batches by the end of year 2000, will be allocated to finance the Tunisian Government's reform program in the fields of banking and finance, besides education and higher education.
The grant is the fourth to be granted by the EU to assist Tunisia in its reform programs.
