Head of international jurists commission lauds Morocco's human rights progress

Secretary General of the International Jurists Commission (IJC), Adama Dieng, lauded on Friday the progress scored by Morocco in matters of human rights.
The initiatives undertaken by King Mohammed VI to struggle against poverty and eradicate discrimination against women are a proof of the King's determination to promote human rights and consolidate the rule of law, Dieng said at a press conference in Rabat.
The official also underscored Morocco's efforts to reinforce the judicial system and consolidating its independence through reforming the existing laws. He said, in this connection, that his Commission is ready to assist Morocco consolidate the rule of law.
Dieng added that IJC intends to contribute to the consolidation of the press freedom through conducting a study on the Moroccan press with a view to reforming the sector.
IJC, which fights for the consolidation of law, was founded in 1952 in Berlin. It musters 45 eminent jurists, representing all the regions of the world.
During his stay in Morocco, Dieng conferred with Moroccan Interior Minister, Driss Basri, Human Rights Minister, Mohammed Aujjar, and President of the Moroccan Human Rights Advisory Council (CCDH), Driss Dahhak.
