Al-Hoss meets with Moratinos
Lebanon-European Union, Politics, 9/24/1999

Lebanese Premier and Foreign Minister Salim al-Hoss discussed at his residence in New York with the European Union's Middle East peace process envoy, Miguel Moratinos, developments concerning the Middle East peace process.

Following their meeting, Moratinos stressed the determination of Europe to play its full role in Middle East peace. He added that there is no fixed date to resume the talks, saying, "Everybody is working now to resume the peace process."

Moratinos denounced the Israeli attack against the Lebanese army position in al-Tuffah district. He added that the timing of this aggression is very bad because it took place at a time when all speak of resuming talks on the Syrian and Lebanese tracks.

Moratinos added that he will meet with the Israeli prime minister to discuss this issue and in the Israeli real intention towards the Middle East peace process.
