New Israeli settlement in the Golan

Israeli settlers in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights have escalated their propaganda against any form of withdrawal from the Golan, even if this withdrawal will lead to peace.
On Wednesday, the Israeli settlers laid the foundation stone to build a new quarter inside the Beni Yehuda settlement. The new quarter is to contain some 52 houses, according to Israel Radio.
The radio added that the settlers also decided to build a new settlement close to Kana village in the Golan.
Meanwhile, the chairman of the Israel settlements' regional council urged the government of Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak to increase the budgets for the Israeli settlements in the Golan, vowing that he will go on strike if these budgets are reduced.
