The session of official talks between Egypt and Uzbekistan was convened in the foreign ministry's headquarters under the chairmanship of Egyptian Assistant Foreign Minister for European Affairs Fathi El-Shazeli and Abd El-Satar Hidrof, the deputy foreign minister of Uzbekistan, who is currently visiting Cairo.

At the conclusion of these discussions, an agreement to ban tax duplication between the two countries was signed by El-Shazeli and Hidrof.

After the discussions, El-Shazeli said the discussion tackled bilateral relations between the two countries and means of boosting them, as well as the two countries' points of view toward issues. He said they agreed during a review of regional issues upon lots of points in a way that assures the conformity of political vision between the two countries.

He added, "We are looking forward to better economic relations between the two countries, adding that figures for commercial exchange between Egypt and Uzbekistan are still very humble and less than aspired by the two countries in light of history of relations between the two countries."
