Two SLA militia members killed in south Lebanon
Lebanon-Israel, Military, 9/22/1999

News reports from south Lebanon said that two Israeli-allied South Lebanon Army militia members were killed on Tuesday in south Lebanon in an operation carried out by the Lebanese resistance when it detonated an explosive near Kafer Houneh position in the occupied part of south Lebanon.

The Lebanese resistance said the explosion, which targeted Kafer Houneh, on Tuesday morning resulted in several casualties among members of the militia. Israel Radio reported the death of the two militiamen in a Lebanese resistance operation against Kafer Houneh.

In a statement, the Lebanese resistance said its men carried out another attack against a SLA position in the central sector of south Lebanon and destroyed a large part of its fortifications and the occupants of the position were killed or wounded.

Meanwhile, Israeli warplanes on Tuesday raided the outskirts of al-Lweizeh town in al-Tuffah district. Lebanese security sources said the Israeli warplanes fired several air to surface missiles.

The Lebanese security sources added that the Israeli artillery bombarded Tallet al-Khayyam, al-Qatrani mount heights, al-Sarira outskirts and Kafer Houneh, adjacent to the western Bekaa.

Earlier in the day, areas close to the occupied part of south Lebanon were exposed to Israeli artillery shelling. Some 50 shells were dropped and targeted Maidoun hills, Burket al-Jabour, Abu Rashed, the Litani river course and al-Sarira hills. Heavy damage was inflicted on the farms of the attacked areas.
