Mubarak confers with Arafat

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak met on Tuesday in Burj al-Arab, northern Egypt, with Palestinian President Yasser Arafat. The two sides discussed the results of the meeting held between Arafat and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak and the question of final status negotiations with Israel.
Following his visit to Egypt, Arafat will head for the UN where he will deliver a speech before the UN General Assembly and meet with US President Bill Clinton to discuss an effective role by the US to accelerate the negotiations.
