Jordanian government agrees to reform election laws

The Jordanian government agreed to an increase in the number of members of the Jordanian deputies' council to 120 members from 80.

It also agreed on dividing into 80 electoral districts, with one seat per each circle in the council, in addition to 40 seats to be filled by representatives elected according to the wining parties.

This came during the meeting of Jordanian Prime Minister Abdul Raouf al-Rawabdeh with members of the supreme coordination committee for the Jordanian opposition parties, which includes 14 parties.

After the discussion session with the opposition parties regarding the election law, al-Rawabdeh said his government agrees to some items in the note that, was presented by the opposition parties regarding the election law and that it will launch freedom in the electoral campaign.

He added that the government will allow all candidates to use television as a means for electoral campaigning equally.
