Omar al-Khayyam subject of international symposium

Iranian President Muhammad Khatami has sent a message to the international symposium on Omar al-Khayyam, which started deliberations on Monday in Paris, in which the Iranian president commended poet and philosopher Omar al-Khayyam, who is Iranian by origin, and the humanitarian creative traits he enjoyed.

For his part, the secretary general of ALECSO (the AL Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization) Abdul Aziz Bin Othman al-Tweijari said in a speech before the symposium that Omar al-Khayyam was among the elite and prominent Muslim scholars in various domains of applied sciences, especially in arithmetic, cosmology, engineering, medicine, metrology, as well as his deep knowledge of religious sciences, theology, literature, poetry, philosophy and Sufi studies.

Al-Tweijari added that Omar al-Khayyam deserved to be immortalized and to stay alive in the memory of nations, thanks to his creativity which has become the property of humanity as a whole.
