Zelzal Iranian missile developed

Brigadier General Gholam-Hossein Gheibparvar, one of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard's leaders, confirmed that the guard made an experiment launching a surface-to-surface missile under the name Zelzal (earthquake) which will be displayed during a military show on Wednesday on the occasion of the Iranian celebration of the anniversary of the outbreak of the Iran - Iraq war in 1980.

He added that the process of scientific research for the new missile lasted for four-and-a-half years, adding that his country didn't ask help from the foreign states in manufacturing the Zelzal missile.

He added that the Revolutionary Guard also tested days ago a locally developed helicopter under the name Shahen. The Revolutionary Guard leadership said that the aircraft had been manufactured by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Air Force.

Gheibparvar said the army is also concerned with developing its defensive capacities as it tested in last April a land-air missile under the name Sayed in honor of General Ali Sayad Shiraz, who was the deputy chief of the Iranian general stuff and who was murdered by the Iranian opposition organization Mojahideen Khalq, which takes the Iraqi territories as a headquarters.
