Arafat to visit Egypt, USA, France on peace process

Palestinian President Yasser Arafat is starting tomorrow a tour that is to include Egypt, the USA and France, during which he will discuss the latest developments in the Israeli - Palestinian peace process.
Palestine's ambassador in Cairo, Zohdi El-Kodra, said Arafat's visit to the three countries comes in the framework of communications with the three countries due to their main role in the peace process.
He added that Arafat's visit to Washington corresponds with beginning of the final status negations, describing them as difficult and adding that Arafat wants to place US President Bill Clinton and US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright in the picture regarding the final status issues and the negotiation mechanism regarding these issues.
Moreover he said the US role has importance and that it must go on as great progress took place recently, adding that Washington will also announce the joint Palestinian - US committee which will address joint issues.
