Morocco, Malaysia to step up cooperatives partnership
Morocco-Malaysia, Economics, 9/17/1999

A delegation of managers of Malaysian cooperatives had talks Wednesday in Rabat with their Moroccan peers on ways of boosting partnership in matters of cooperatives management.

Talks covered the possibility of setting up a data bank on the Moroccan - Malaysian cooperatives' activities, their shared business opportunities, working procedures and marketing strategies.

Executives from the Moroccan and Malaysian cooperatives also reviewed staff training, accounting, the challenges facing cooperatives, the use of computing in management and ways to face international competitiveness.

Moroccan cooperatives operate mostly in agribusiness, carpets, handicraft, leather industry, shoe-making and dairy products, while the Malaysian cooperatives work especially in banking, housing, transports, consumption goods, insurance, tourism and agriculture.
