Morocco continues poverty awarness events in November
Morocco, Culture, 9/15/1999

King Mohammed VI chaired on Tuesday here a meeting of the Mohammed V Solidarity Foundation to prepare for second anti-poverty solidarity week, to be staged early next November.

Shortly after he was proclaimed King of Morocco, following the demise of his father, the late King Hassan II, King Mohammed VI pledged to continue development efforts, especially for the poor.

"We are determined to continue the development endeavor for your well-being (...) especially for the least favored social layers, whose situation is part of our concerns," King Mohammed VI said in his first Throne Speech last July 30.

He underlined that he will grant his attention to the problem of poverty. "We will endeavor to reduce the acuity and impact of poverty," he said.

The Mohammed V Solidarity Foundation, the King said, will dedicate its action to the affairs of the poor, the needy and the disabled. "We are committed to activating the role of this institution," he stressed.
