Meguid urges Saddam Hussein for brave initiative for comprehensive reconciliation

Arab League Secretary General Esmat Abdul Meguid urged Iraqi President Saddam Hussein to take a brave initiative to fulfill comprehensive reconciliation and express remorse to brake the barriers obstructing Arab unity.

Abdul Meguid suggested that the Iraqis make an initiative to end the problem of the Kuwaiti missing and captives as well as declaring their positions on activating the "Arab League Follow Up Committe on Iraq" headed by Syria.

He denied the existence of an Egyptian - Syrian dispute by saying that coordination between the two states exist, and the two states are tied by historical relations.

On the possibility of convening an Arab summit, Meguid said "The Arab summit needs good preparation to guarantee its successs and Kuwait's approval to attend a summit in which Iraq participates was a positive step toward rectifying the atmospheres."
