Mauritania renews commitment to Arabization

A high-ranking Mauritania official on Tuesday stressed commitment of his government to the choice of Arabization in the context of the new educational reforms which will start as of the new school year.
In the national seminar on implementing the new educational reforms held in Nouakchott on Tuesday, the director general of higher education in Mauritania, Muhammad Mahmoud, said, "The Arab language has its forefront position in reforms," adding that "one third of the curriculum is compulsorily taught in Arabic."
