Seven Syrian ambassadors return home to end terms of office
Syria, Politics, 9/15/1999
Syrian official sources told the Lebanese daily al-Nahar that seven Syrian ambassadors were summoned to return to Damascus after their service has been terminated.
In today's issue, the paper said those returning to the country after completing their terms included Syria's ambassadors to Washington, Walid al-Mu'allim; Egypt, Issa Darwish; China, Nasrullah Haidar; Kuwait, Mustafa al-Haj Ali; Algeria, Abdul Jabbar al-Dahak; Morocco, Ali Hassan; and Sudan Muhammad al-Mahameed.
All of the ambassadors have spent more than 10 years in their posts.
The Syrian sources denied any link between the return of the ambassadors to a rumor of a governmental reshuffle.
