More gunmen surrender in Algeria
Algeria, Politics, 9/14/1999

The election campaign on the referendum over the civil reconciliation law in Algeria entered its 19th day on Monday amid great support and backing from political parties and civil society, a situation that complies with the turnout made by members of armed groups members to surrender so as to benefit from smooth sentences under the civil reconciliation law.

The attorney general of Wahran district said on Monday that 20 gunmen surrendered in Blida province, six to the security forces in Wahran, one in Tipaza province, eight in al-Damous, seven in Boumerdes province and another six in Mascara province.

Moreover, the Algerian daily al- Alam al-Seyasi said that 20 gunmen surrendered in Bouira province since the civil concord law was put into actual implementation.

Press sources said that additional gunmen are preparing to surrender within the coming days.
