Bouteflika highlights Algeria's heavy presence in international circles
Algeria, Politics, 9/14/1999

Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika has asserted that Algeria is present in the Arab, Maghreb, and African arenas as well as through its relations with Europe and the US.

In a speech he delivered on Sunday night before a crowd in Bejaia province, the Algerian president added that Algeria is able to ensure the security of its people and the security of foreigners as well as companies which seek to return and invest in Algeria.

The Algerian president also renewed his commitment to fighting all those who stand against peace. He asserted the importance of eliminating sectarianism so Algeria will be able to live "in prosperity for the benefit of all."

In his speech, which came in the framework of the electoral campaign to approve the civil reconciliation law, the Algerian president said Algeria has love for its neighbors and that it has woken up from its long sleep.
