A preliminary meeting for Sudanese reconciliation
Sudan, Politics, 9/13/1999

Sudanese Foreign Minister Mustafa Othman Ismael said at the conclusion of a closed-door meeting of the ministerial council of the Arab League council dedicated to discussing the Sudanese issue and "the foreign conspiracies against Sudan," that representatives of the government and the opposition in Sudan will meet during the second half of October in order to prepare for the national reconciliation conference.

He said, "This decision was taken during a tripartite meeting he held this week in Tripoli with the foreign ministers of Libya and Egypt, on the sidelines of the special summit meeting of the Organization of African Unity."

Meanwhile, the spokesman for the "United Democratic Salvation Front," Makoyak Teini Yuke said one of the former leaders in the Sudan People's Liberation, Kerobeinko Kwanin, was assassinated on Friday in al-Wahdah province while he was on his way from Mankeen to Mayoum to meet with a southern leader who backs the government, Polino Matib.
