Iraqi paper denounces Wednesday Security Council meeting
Iraq-UN, Politics, 9/13/1999

The Iraqi daily al-Thawra published on Sunday denounced the meeting to be held by the UN Security Council's five permanent member states next Wednesday in London in an attempt to reach a position towards Iraq.

The paper said this meeting aims at convincing the majority to accept amendments to the British project which it said aims at undermining the rights of Iraq.

The paper continued that what should be known by all is that the London meeting is totally rejected, because Iraq will not allow its rights ensured in UN resolution 687 to be violated, which provides for lifting the UN sanctions from Iraq, unconditionally.

The British project which is backed by the US would suspend limitations on petroleum exports for renewable terms of 120 days if Baghdad responds to the demands pertaining to disarmament.
