Sudanese teachers kidnapped in Yemen
Yemen, Local, 9/13/1999
Local tribal sources announced in Yemen on Sunday that three Sudanese teachers were kidnapped last Monday by Yemeni tribes in Marib province.
AFP quoted the sources as saying that members of al-Teiman and al-Hamajereyah tribes kidnapped the teachers in Sarwaj district following a dispute with the Yemeni minister of education.
It is rare for Arab citizens to be kidnapped in Yemen, as Yemeni tribes often kidnap foreign tourists to pressure the authorities. The kidnappings usually end peacefully.
