Bouteflika vows to have a new phase in Algeria
Algeria, Politics, 9/13/1999
Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika has asserted that Algeria will be witnessing a new phase. He added that the "state" will meet all its obligations and will definitely close a page of sorrows.
Upon presiding over a popular gathering in Laghouat province on Sunday in the course of the election campaign for the referendum on the civil reconciliation law, the Algerian president renewed his appeal to all who have been cheated (in a reference to the gunmen) to return to the "rightful path."
Bouteflika added that the government will take into consideration the social, psychological and political elements of those who are cheated. He expressed his satisfaction over the joining of the opposition democratic parties to the efforts on behalf of the civil reconciliation law.
