Concluding meetings of Gulf foreign ministers
Gulf, Politics, 9/11/1999

The foreign ministers of the Gulf states have concluded a meeting in Jeddah to discuss the Arab foreign ministers' conference scheduled to be held in Cairo tomorrow under the chairmanship of Iraqi Foreign Minister Mohammad Said al-Sahaf for the first time since the Gulf War in 1990.

United Arab Emirates Foreign Minister Rashid bin Abdallah al-Nuaymi called for canceling the sanctions imposed on Iraq as soon as possible.

The meetings began yesterday, during which the ministers discussed a number of subjects included in the Arab FMs' agenda concerning the Gulf Cooperation Council and a number of issues raised in the Arab, Islamic and international arenas.

The six GCC states have decided to take part in Arab FM's meetings on a high-ranking level, as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, and Kuwait sent their foreign ministers, while the undersecretary of the UAE Foreign Ministry will participate in the meeting.
