Kuwait permits distribution of Jordanian papers in Kuwait
Jordan-Kuwait, Politics, 9/10/1999
Jordanian Minister of Information Ayman al-Majali told the Jordanian paper al-Aswak on Thursday that Kuwait has, principally, approved as of Wednesday, September 8, the entry of Jordanian weeklies and dailies, which had been banned there since the Gulf War in 1991, adding that the "coming phase will witness further cooperation and coordination between the two sisterly countries."
The director of the printing and publication department in Jordan, Abdullah al-Atoum, said, "The Kuwaiti papers had not been at any time banned in Jordan," adding that Kuwaiti papers distributed regularly include "three dailies, al-Seyassah, al-Qabas and al-Watan, as well as several magazines including Al-Arabi, Mir'at al-Ummah, al-Yaqza, al-Nahda, al-Kuwait and al-Thaqafa al-Alameyah."
This new development between the two states came just two days after King Abdullah's visit to Kuwait.
