Japanese Foreign Ministry releases statement supporting Sharm accord
Palestine-Japan, Politics, 9/9/1999
Japan has welcomed today the agreement signed in Sharm El-Sheikh between the Palestinians and Israelis concerning the implementation of the Wye River accord and resuming final status negotiations.
A statement by the Japanese Foreign Ministry said the agreement has been achieved after long, continuous efforts exerted by the Palestinians and Israelis since Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak's government came to power in July, adding that Japan believes both sides are seriously involved in enhancing and pushing the wheel of the peace process in the Middle East.
