British parliamentarian in a campaign for backing Iraq
Iraq-UK, Politics, 9/9/1999
British Parliament member George Galloway has started a two-month trip from London to Baghdad during which he will visit several countries in order to raise backing for lifting the sanctions imposed on Iraq.
He took a red coach accompanied by several volunteers from various parts of Britain. After they stop in Glasgow and Birmingham, they will head for France, Spain, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Jordan and Egypt.
This initiative is sponsored by the Mariam Abeel humanitarian organization, which was established in 1998, after Galloway had arrived back from Iraq accompanied by a four-year-old child suffering from leukemia to receive treatment in Britain.
