British - Jordanian joint training
Jordan-UK, Politics, 9/9/1999

The official Jordanian news agency, Petra, has reported that a joint military exercise was carried out on Tuesday between two units of the Jordanian armed forces and the British forces, including attacks against presumed targets with live ammunition.

The agency did not specify the place where the training was held but said that the British army's chief of staff, Charles Guthrie, who arrived in Amman earlier in the day on a visit which will last for several days, attended the training.

The agency said the training falls in the course of the "annual training plan carried out by the Jordanian armed forces in the context of joint training with several armies from the sisterly and friendly countries with the objective of acquiring expertise."

Meanwhile, the British military official and the Jordanian army chief of staff held a meeting during which "conditions in the region in general were reviewed, Middle East peace process developments and coordination between the two countries."
