Democratic front to open office in Cairo shortly
Palestine-Regional, Politics, 9/8/1999
Sources at the opposition Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine said the front's office in Cairo will open within a few weeks and that it will not end its presence in Damascus unless it is forced to do so.
The sources in Damascus said that the Cairo office "will be officially opened in less one month," which "does not mean closing down Damascus office because it is the central office." The sources added that the Damascus office can be shut down if the Syrians ask the front to leave Syria, and this is "not expected at the meantime."
On August 22 and 23, the front's secretary general, Nayef Hawatemah, held talks with Palestinian President Yasser Arafat in Cairo dealing with means of restoring Palestinian unity.
