Liberian president decides to take part in African summit
Libya-Regional-Liberia, Politics, 9/8/1999
Liberia's Foreign Ministry announced on Tuesday that Liberian President Charles Taylor has decided to attend the African summit in Libya and was due to head there later in the day. A statement by the Liberian Foreign Ministry said President Taylor was due to leave for Tripoli on Tuesday on top of a high-ranking delegation to attend the summit of the Organization of African Unity due to start deliberations today.
Last Sunday Taylor decided not to attend the summit and to send his deputy, Eno De Julia, to represent him because of the continued fighting in the northern part of the country.
