Algeria asks for the nomination of its energy minister as OPEC's secretary

The Algerian daily al-Khabar said on Tuesday that Algeria has officially asked for the nomination of Algerian Minister of Energy Youssef Yousefi, the current president of OPEC, for the post of OPEC's secretary general. The paper said the decision of the nomination will be taken during the OPEC meeting in Vienna on September 22. The Algerian candidate will face competition from Saudi Oil Minister Suleiman Harbish and Iranian Oil Minister Hosni Odbeiki for this post.
