Israel to free Abu Ouf
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 9/7/1999
Palestinian sources who took part in the recent negotiations between Palestine and Israel stated that they have agreed that Israel would release the oldest Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails and that it will not object to the release of such detainees as Maher Abu Ouf, one of the leaders of Fatah, and Wagir Weshah, one of the leaders of the People's Front for the Liberation of Palestine.
Abu Ouf was arrested in 1981, and he was sentenced to life imprisonment after being convicted of killing Israelis.
Weshah was detained in 1985 and sentenced to life imprisonment after he was accused of leading military groups and cells of the peoples front and of planning for operations against Israeli events in Gaza.
