Jordanian Journalists Union against normalization with Israel
Jordan, Politics, 9/7/1999
The head of the Jordanian Journalists Union, Seif al-Sharif, has threatened to send four Jordanian journalists to a disciplinary council if it is proven that their current visit to Israel aims at meeting with Israeli officials and normalizing relations with them.
In a statement published on Monday in the Jordanian daily al-Rai, al-Sharif said, "If what was reported in local dailies on Sunday about this visit proves to be true, it will be then considered a breach of the decision of the general commission of Journalists Union, which bars normalization with Israel."
