Indyk arrives in Algeria

US Undersecretary of State for Middle East Affairs Martin Indyk arrived in Algiers on Monday night for a two-day working visit.
Indyk was received yesterday by Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika. After the meeting Indyk expressed US support for Algeria's efforts to end the violence that has been ongoing for more than seven years. He said that during the meeting they discussed the revival of bilateral relations, which US President Bill Clinton supports.
During his visit, Indyk is to hold talks with the Algerian officials on means of developing bilateral relations between Algeria and the US, as well as the situations in the Middle East, Africa and the Maghreb.
