Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Sheikh Salem al-Sabah arrived on Monday in Beijing on a several-day visit to China in the framework of a tour that will also lead him to Seoul.

The Gulf News Agency quoted al-Sabah as saying in an arrival statement that he will hold during his visit talks with Chinese officials in the political and military fields and means of backing them, as well as the Kuwaiti - Chinese military security agreement which was signed between the two countries in 1995.

He added that he is to visit several Chinese positions of the land, sea and air forces as well as several military hospitals, during his stay.

For his part, the Chinese army's deputy chief of staff expressed his hope that Sheikh al-Sabah's visit will be successful and help foster bilateral relations between the two countries and between the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
