Morocco sets up neurogenetics lab

Morocco has set up a neurogenetics laboratory destined to develop research and studies in the field.
The lab will also provide data on genetic diseases in Morocco and will look into prevention modes and the latest diagnosis techniques.
The lab will be supervised by a team of eminent Moroccan experts including Professor Ali Benomar, who won the 1999 Soucha Foundation international prize for his "outstanding" contributions and studies in neurogenetics.
A Moroccan neurology team has discovered lately the gene responsible for paralysis. The new discovery was cited in the "American Journal of Human Genetics" in its September edition.
